Infant & Child CPR:
A 6 hour course which teaches how to recognize and care for breathing emergencies and cardiac arrest in infants and children and reduce the risk of injury to infants and children. Prerequisite to this course is Adult CPR. Certification expires one year from date of issue.
Standard First Aid: (Adult CPR, lst Aid)
A 6.5 hour course, including Adult CPR & lst Aid. The first 4 hours of this course are Adult CPR, which teaches how to recognize and care for breathing emergencies, heart attack and cardiac arrest in Adults. Certification for Adult CPR expires one year from date of issue. The second portion of this course is First Aid, which teaches how to identify and care for life threatening bleeding, sudden illness and injuries. Prerequisite to this course is Adult CPR. Certification for First Aid expires three years from date of issue.
Community First Aid & Safety: (Adult, Child, Infant CPR and First Aid)
A 9 hour course which teaches how to recognize breathing and cardiac emergencies for Adults, Children, and Infants (Community CPR) and how to identify and care for life threatening bleeding, sudden illness and injuries. Certification for CommuWty CPR (flrst 6.5 hours) expires one year from date of issue. Prerequisite for First Aid is Adult CPR. Certification for First Aid expires three years from date of issue. This course meets all requirements for Child Care Providers.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer:
A 9 hour course intended for individuals who are trained and expected to respond to an emergency as a job-related duty. This course teaches how to recognize and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies; perform two-rescuer CPR; and use a resuscitation mask and bag-valve mask.
Responding To Emergencies:
First Aid - Responding to Emergencies is a multi-sessional course that consists of lectures, discussions, videos, activities and simulated emergency situations. These components help the participant to overcome the fears of responding to emergencies. This course also emphasizes the value of a safe and healthy lifestyle in preventing injury and illness.
Emergency Responses:
A 43 hour course training individuals in recognizing and caring for breathing and cardiac emergencies. for Adults, Children, & Infants using two-rescuer CPR and bag-valve mask. Designed for individuals with job- related duties to act in an emergency. These individuals often called "First Responders" include but are not limited to fire fighters, law enforcement personnel, lifeguard, emergency response teams, etc. Prerequisite is CPR for Professional Rescuer. Certiflcation expires three years from date of issue.
Protect Your Back:
A 4 hour preventive course which teaches: Basic anatomy; methods for protecting the back for overall fitness, correct posture, ergonomics, (using ones surroundings wisely at home and in the workplace.)and skill practice in moving objects properly and exercises to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Certiflcation expires three years from date of issue.
Babysitting Saftey :
A 7 hour course which teaches how to handle emergencies, prevent accidents, and the knowledge for competent Babysitting. Students also learn job hunting skills, and personal safety to protect themselves and the children in their care.
Til Help Arrives:
Every year, over 2 million Americans are hospitalized because of injuries, and over 142,000 die. Millions more die from sudden illness, such as heart attack and stroke. Many
of these people die, because no one knew what to do - No one took action! Often, recognizing that emergencies exist, and taking action in the first few rwnutes can mean the difference between death or life -long disability and recovery. Tll Help Arrives, a first aid and CPR seminar, can help you and your group through those first few minutes. We can design a first aid seminar for your group. Usually, Til Help Arrives, lasts one hour or more and includes recognizing emergencies, when to call an ambulance, or 911, and how to react to life threatening conditions.
Preventing Disease Transmission:
A 2 hour course to train employees who may come in contact with infectious materials as part of their job regarding safe workplace practices; emergency and follow-up procedures; and preventing disease transmission for bloodborne infections, such as hepatitis B virus and HIV. Participants receive "Has Attended" Certificate: Course addresses OSHA regulations for training and bloodborne pathogens.
HIV\AIDS Education:
HIV affects us all. You, your loved ones, and people in your community. We need to ban together in this fight Break the Silence. Talk about HIV and AIDS with people you love. Join the Wichita County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Brealdng the Silence. Learn the facts regarding HIV, Share the facts, Spread the facts. With a single call of 646-0196 you can schedule a presentation for your group or workplace. Trained instructors will provide unbiased HIV\AIDS information and encourage participants to share their interests and concerns. A wide range of materials including video tapes and brochures supports the program. Most are resources designed to help parents, teens, children - learn the facts about HIV infection and transmission and support youth and adults in making decisions that make healthy risk-free lives.

Lifeguarding (bog:
A 40 hour course designed to train persons 15 years of age and older in lifeguarding job skills. Students must have basic swimming skill& The course will teach different strokes, spinal injury management, different rescue techniques, and stroke refinement. Prerequisites include CPR for Professional Rescuer, and knowledge of water safety and basic swimniing. Water Saftey Instructor:
A 36 hour course designed to teach the information and skills necessary for candidates to instruct Red Cross progressive swimming classes; Basic and Emergency Water Safety, Infant & Preschool Aquatics. Prerequisites include American Red Cross Instructor Candidate Training course, must be at least 17 years of age, Lifeguard Training certification suggested. Candidates will also be tested for stroke competency on front crawl, back crawl, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and breaststroke. Community First Aid & Saftey Instructor Course:
A 16 hour course to train individuals to instruct First Aid and Adult, Child & Infant CPR and Community First Aid & Safety, through the American Red Cross. Prerequisites include basic Community First Aid & Safety certification and Instructor Candidate Training Course certificate. Must be at least 17 years of age. Instructor Candidate Training: ICT)
A 6 hour course to train instructor candidates in fundamental teaching skills, instructor responsibilities, Red Cross policies & procedures.
**This course is required by all Ameirican Ped Cross course entry level instructor candidates before completion of speciality course training.**
Registration Policy:
Because a strict instructor to student ratio must be maintained, all course enrollments are on a pre-registration basis. You may do this in person or by mail. If you enroll by mail, a complete fee must accompany your course registration form. We should receive your full enrollment no later than 1 week prior the beginning date of the course. If the course is full, or cancelled due to lack of registration, we can move you into the next date of your choice, or we will refund your fees.
Cancellation Policy:
The American Red Cross reserves the right to cancel any course at any time because of insufficient enrollment and administrative reasons. Full refunds are made for courses cancelled by the American Red Cross, or we can move you into the next date of your choice. No refunds are given to No-Show students. Every effort is made to contact students for a cancelled course.
