Select ASCII when uploading text files, such as HTML documents. Otherwise,
select Binary.
If your not sure what you want to upload will work like you think, it's always best to rename your old file first, then upload the new file to the system. For example you might want to rename your Index.htm file to Index.001. This way, if something is wrong with your replacement file, you can always go back to the original. (select the file and click the Rename button).
a. Use lower-case letters whenever possible. (Remember that our ftp
and web servers are case sensitive)
b. Don't use spaces or any of these characters in file names. &*%$#@!|\+/ . Only and underscore _ should be used as a spacer. All other characters will cause you problems
c. Use the extensions .html or .htm for HTML documents .gif for GIF
images .jpeg or .jpg for JPEG images .txt for plain text documents.
8. Index.htm is the first file seen when someone goes to your homepage.
You may should the index file and replace it with your own. Your home
page location then becomes,
http://users.wtsonline.net/username
where username is replaced by your login name.
